A day off.

The same conversations.

It’s a national holiday. But not everyone gets it off. If you do, you’re lucky. If you don’t, you’re pissed. And if you do, you’re probably not celebrating or honoring the person: MLK JR. I didn’t.

Today was a rest day. And a cleaning day. I even got to visit a friend for a lunch.

I scrolled through several feeds: a quote here and a quote there. But really, none of it presented me with a moment of peace or reflection. The 2016 results were clear. There is a lot of work to do.

So, I put on Creed. It seemed like the perfect way to end the day. A last redeeming choice to celebrate art, story and the fights that will continue.

There is a lot of work to do. There is a lot of fighting to do. For justice. For peace. Yes, for Black lives.
